SSH Telnet
Discover more about the Telnet protocol and its use.
Secure Shell, commonly known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol used to execute commands on a remote server or to exchange information between a web server and a client. As the data exchanged by the two sides is encrypted, a third party cannot intercept it, which makes SSH a favored means of controlling a website hosting account. The commands that may be executed depend on the type of hosting service. On a shared hosting server, in particular, the possibilities are limited as you simply won't have root access to the hosting server, so you can only create/move/delete files, set up and unpack archives, import and export databases, etc. They are all actions which are carried out within the shared hosting account and don't require a higher level of access. Using a virtual or a dedicated server, you shall have the option to set up server-side software or to restart the machine or only a particular service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted via a command line, but if you don't employ a UNIX-like Operating System, there are plenty of apps for other OSs, that you can use to connect to the remote server as well.

SSH Telnet in Cloud Hosting
When you have a
cloud hosting account with us and you would like to deal with your content remotely via SSH, you can receive SSH access to the account through your Hepsia Control Panel. If your plan doesn't offer this feature as standard, you can easily add it with several clicks via the Upgrades menu. In the SSH section of the Control Panel, you shall see the host, the port number and the username that you should use when you connect to the account. You can even select what password you would want to use, considering that it doesn't need to be the same as the one for the account. We've prepared a number of Help articles where you can easily find all of the commands that you'll be able to use with a shared hosting plan, along with examples of how they are used. Moreover, if SSH access is allowed for your account, you'll be able to establish a Secure FTP (SFTP) connection using a standard client like FileZilla, for instance.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
All our
semi-dedicated server accounts offer the possibility to access and control them through SSH. If the plan you have selected includes this function by default, you simply have to activate the SSH access feature through the corresponding section of the Hepsia CP. If the function is listed as an optional upgrade, you could quickly add it through the Add Services/Upgrades link within the Hepsia CP and it will be available within a minute. We have a number of help articles and video tutorials regarding the use of SSH commands to handle your account and a full list of the commands that you can perform alongside several examples to give you a better perception of what you could do. If SSH is active, you shall also be able to set up an SFTP connection to the account and to upload data safely and securely using any FTP app that supports the feature.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
You will be able to use SSH to handle your content regardless of which
VPS servers you pick when you sign up, due to the fact that all of our plans provide this function by default. You will not have to include or enable anything by hand - the minute your web server is prepared and you receive the Welcome e-mail with the login credentials, you'll be able to connect and begin working on your web sites or any software that you'd like to set up and run on the hosting server. You shall have root-level access to the VPS and due to the fact that the account will be separated from all of the other accounts in the physical server, you shall be able to do anything you would like without any restrictions. You can set up any application you require and which will work on a Linux-based hosting server, restart any software server (web, database, game, media, etc.) and manage your files and databases fast and easy.
