Hotlinking Protection
What's the purpose of hotlink protection? How does it work and in which cases is it useful to allow it?
Hotlinking is a commonly accepted Internet expression for linking to another website’s images. Basically, if you create a website, somebody else may want to use the images you have and rather than downloading them from your Internet site and then uploading them to their website, they could simply put links to your site. In this way, when a visitor opens their Internet site, the images shall be loaded from your account, hence stealing from your own monthly traffic quota, not to mention the copyright issues that can present themselves or that somebody can be trying to deceive people into thinking that they're in fact on your website. In rare occasions, documents and other kinds of files may also be linked in the exact same way. To prevent this from happening and to avoid this kind of situations, you could enable hotlink protection for your website.

Hotlinking Protection in Cloud Hosting
It will not take more than a couple of mouse clicks to enable the hotlink security function which we provide even if this is the very first hosting account which you use, as all our
cloud hosting include a simple and user-friendly tool that will allow you to stop direct links to your content. The tool is a component of our revolutionary Hepsia Control Panel, so it provides the same intuitive point & click interface. When you log in to your account’s back office and go to the Hotlink Protection section, you will only need to pick the domain or subdomain that you'd like to protect from a drop-down list. If you'd like to enable this function only for a particular website folder, you will have the option to do that. All sites with enabled hotlink protection will appear inside this section and you will be able to turn off the service by selecting the checkbox beside the given Internet site and clicking on the Delete button.

Hotlinking Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you open a
semi-dedicated server account and you find out that another person is linking to your files without your consent, you could easily cut them off by activating the hotlink security function which we offer you. While the conventional method of doing that is to set up an .htaccess file, we've got a special tool which can do this automatically and you will only have to select the Internet site in question and to choose whether our system should set up the necessary file in the main folder or in a subfolder. The tool is a component of our customized Hepsia CP and features exactly the same user-friendly interface, so you will be able to use it with no complications even when you have never used any hosting service before. You'll be able to switch off the hotlink security function for any website/folder with a click through the exact same section.
